BeiDou Applications | Experts Analyze Cutting-Edge Technologies Such as BeiDou Integration to Help Robotics Society "Think Spatially"

Frontier technologies such as Beidou integration help robotics learn "spatial thinking"

Recently, the 2025 World Robot Conference's "Robot Navigation and Spatial Intelligence Technology" themed event was held in Beijing. As an important part of the conference, this event focused on the most challenging and transformative core robot technologies, conducting in-depth discussions on key technological breakthroughs and industrial applications related to robot navigation systems and spatial intelligence, with a focus on frontier areas such as Beidou integration, intelligent perception, and brain-like models.

The event was jointly hosted by Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics Industry Management and Zhengzhou University, bringing together scholars from more than 20 universities including Peking University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Beihang University to jointly explore how the "brain" and "eyes" of robot autonomous decision-making can break through technological boundaries.

Professor Deng Zhongliang, President of Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics Industry Management and Academic Vice President of Zhengzhou University, introduced the Beidou-5G NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) sub-meter to centimeter-level global positioning technology in his keynote report. He pointed out that this technology integrates the high-precision positioning capability of the Beidou satellite with the wide coverage characteristics of 5G NTN. Through innovative algorithms and system architecture, it can achieve centimeter-level precision global positioning. This technological breakthrough not only provides robots with unprecedented spatial coordinate perception capabilities, as if implanting a "spatial coordinate perception nerve" into robots, enabling precise positioning and navigation in complex environments. Deng Zhongliang stated that the emergence of Beidou-5G NTN high-precision global positioning technology will greatly promote the development of the Internet of Everything, bringing unprecedented development opportunities to fields such as intelligent robots, autonomous driving, and smart cities.

Experts at the meeting introduced their views and achievements in different fields. These research results mark a generational leap in robot technology, moving from single-point breakthroughs to system-level innovation. When perception nerves, environmental cognition, and decision-making brains form a closed loop, robots will evolve into true 'spatial intelligent agents'.

When robots learn to "think spatially," humanity will begin an era of multidimensional universe exploration. As Li Shutao, President of Chang'an University, said: "Spatial intelligence technology will become the space-time bridge connecting the industrial revolution and intelligent civilization."
